Solar Eclipse April 8th

Dear Warrensburg Families,

I’m sure by now you are aware that a historic solar eclipse will occur on Monday, April 8th, and the Adirondack Park is expected to be flooded with visitors as our region is one of the best areas to view this event. As a result of the NYS Police recent recommendation for schools, our district will be adding an additional Early Release Day. This will allow our students to be transported home safely, and in time to view the Solar Eclipse. Elementary students will be dismissed at 11:45 a.m. and Jr-Sr High students will be dismissed at 12:00 p.m.

Please know that this decision has been made with the safety of our students as our top priority. The solar eclipse is a rare and exciting astronomical event, yet it presents challenges for safe dismissal and transportation as the event will occur shortly after our regular dismissal times.

The school district will be providing certified ISO 12312-2 glasses to all students for safe viewing. We encourage you to enjoy this unique event with your family. If you have any questions please feel free to contact the Main Office in either building, or my office. Thank you for your support.
