Reading During Black History Month

February is Black History Month! Every February, we celebrate the achievements and history of African Americans as part of Black History Month. Black History Month was established to focus attention on the experiences and contributions of African Americans throughout our nation's history.

Students in our Elementary School have been challenged to read books that tell the stories that we celebrate during this month. Each month, our Elementary School Library picks a theme and honors the students who read the most books relating to that theme at our monthly P.R.I.D.E. Ceremonies. Congratulations to our students who were recognized as our readers of the month today!

We encourage students and their families to explore this history when they are in and out of school. Take a look at some of the resources that our Elementary School Library has gathered to encourage lifelong learning.
