HOBY Youth Leadership

The Warrensburg Central School District is excited to announce that 10th grader Charlotte Measeck has been selected to represent our school district at the 2024 Hugh O’Brian Youth (HOBY) State Leadership Seminar! The conference will be held at SUNY Albany over the course of four days and is designed to help sophomores build and utilize their leadership talents.

Charlotte is the president of our Junior National Honor Society. Recently, she guided the organization's joint effort with the Senior National Honor Society to raise funds for local causes. The group is currently organizing efforts around Project: Cameron’s Story to support the bonding of parents with their premature babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Her favorite subject is art and she hopes to work in character design in the future. This year, she joined our High School’s Drama Club as the costume designer.

“During the seminar, I am hoping to gain leadership skills and build friendships with the other nominees,” Charlotte said.

The HOBY conference attracts attendees from more than 10,000 local and international high schools. Participating schools are asked to nominate one current student to represent their district.

“Charlotte is a great student and a natural-born leader. When we received the opportunity, the teachers immediately identified Charlotte as someone who would get the full benefit out of the State Leadership Seminar. We are excited to see how the skills taught at this conference will benefit her in the future,” High School Counselor Sarah Landers shared.

During the seminar, the nominated students will participate in facilitated dialogue and abilities-based workshops to develop awareness of their leadership strengths and an understanding of their leadership values. The Warrensburg Central School District funds participation fees to allow our students to attend these opportunities without financial burden.
