2022 Capital Project
Warrensburg 2022 Capital Project Information
In October 2022, the Warrensburg Central School District voters approved a capital project aimed at enhancing the learning spaces in our schools, preparing students to enter the workforce, and addressing critical infrastructure needs, such as replacing the boilers at the high school and fuel tanks at both buildings, in addition to updating the high school parking lot to increase safety and improve traffic flow.
After receiving approval from the New York State Education Department, we are able to begin construction. To combat any inconveniences that may occur as construction gets underway, our district team is meeting every two weeks with our architectural firm and construction management firm, along with on-site contractors, to discuss progress and address any issues. We will keep the community informed in advance of upcoming work, and update on progress as we begin.
During the school year, significant progress was made across all campuses as part of our Capital Project. With students out for summer break, the team has been able to tackle some of the more disruptive work. Changes to the high school parking lot will include a new drop-off area and revised traffic pattern designed to reduce congestion and improve overall traffic flow and safety. With paving now complete, community members are welcome to park in the new lot outside the Jr./Sr. High School. The remaining work on the parking lot project is expected to be finished before the start of the school year.
At the high school, updated spaces and equipment in both the Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) classroom and Construction Trades Career and Technical Education (CTE) classroom will allow students to work with the same tools they’ll encounter at home or in the workplace, better preparing them for life after graduation. New footings have been installed in the CTE space to prepare for the installation of industry-standard equipment. The new floor plan in the FACS space supports new industry-standard equipment and accommodates hands-on work. Built-in fixtures and lab equipment have been added to science classrooms to support the evolving needs of a modern science curriculum. The collaboration space has been cleared and rewired to accommodate technology and Esports programming. upgrades. Additionally, all classrooms have received modern, functional furniture designed to support seamless transitions to group work.
In the Elementary School, the iconic columns around the main entrance have been replaced to make up for the deterioration. The original columns were a gift from the Class of ‘59 and had faced significant wear and tear since. New fuel tanks in both buildings will allow us better control of energy costs and reduce the need for repairs.
Our goal is to have the work completed to the greatest extent possible by September 2025. As we move forward, we will provide you with updates on the status of our projects. Below are the highlights you can look forward to when the project is completed.
