Teen pregnancy prevention and reproductive health resources The Teen Awareness Group (TAG) is a program of Hudson Headwaters Health Network that provides reproductive health education and convenient, discreet access to related health services with the goal of reducing teen pregnancy and the spread of sexually transmitted infections in our region. School Programs Using an evidence based curriculum recognized by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), TAG encourages healthy adolescent sexual behaviors, including practicing abstinence, delaying sexual activity and reducing risky sexual behaviors. Class participants —and parents taking part in related sessions—learn about the importance of protecting their future goals and dreams. Teens learn about abstinence, birth control and how to negotiate situations to protect their health. Reducing Barriers TAG helps teens learn to advocate for their own sexual health and avoid the unintended consequences of sexually transmitted infections or pregnancy. To meet that goal, TAG provides: • Information through social media; • Assistance obtaining insurance; • Information about community resources; • Access to condoms and instructions for proper use; and • Clarification of confidentiality policies. TAG Program Highlights TAG Program covers approximately 1,800 square miles within Warren & Washington counties Partners with eight school districts for in-class evidence- based programming 5,692 total youth participants completed the program since 2010 Programming efforts completed by trained/ experienced staff What youth have said about the TAG programming... • I like how we were given real life situations and could hear different perspectives from others! The instructors are great too, and make you feel comfortable! • I think having kids know so much knowledge about how dangerous STDs are is so im- portant! Great time, when’s the next program?! • I think this course helps open teens eyes to the fact that if you’re sexually active, you put yourself out there for STDs and/or pregnancy. • This program helped me understand why I should use a condom. It was a very informa- tional program. It lets teens know about sex. • I had fun today! Learning about abstinence and pregnancy prevention plays a big role in my life currently. • It was very informational! I’ll use this for the rest of my life! :-p

Congratulations to Warrensburg Senior Cameron Carpenter on his win at the Game of Logging Chainsaw Safety Training competition. Participation is usually offered to farmers and land owners in the area, but the programs that BOCES offers to our students give them the skills they need to perform at this event. Cameron came out on top against other participants who had 3 to 4 times his experience. News 6 Article: shorturl.at/hisCD
