A Message from Superintendent John Goralski and Athletic Director Scott Smith
September 17, 2020

This is an update regarding the status of the fall 2020 sports season. Late last night, the Adirondack League voted to not participate in low or moderate risk sports for the fall of 2020. These sports include soccer, cross country, field hockey, and golf. This is similar to the decision that NYSPHSAA made last week regarding volleyball and football, both deemed high risk sports. Unfortunately, there will not be a fall sports season in Warrensburg. We are extremely disappointed by this news, as we were looking forward to safely returning to athletic competitions this fall.

Please be assured, this was not an easy decision for the Adirondack League to make. We are hopeful that we will be able to move the fall season to later in the school year, beginning in March 2021. In the meantime, we will continue to focus on our safe return to school and continue to develop procedures for a safe return to athletics as well.  At this time, we remain hopeful that the winter sports season will be able to begin on November 30, 2020.

David Little, Executive Director of the Rural Schools Association of New York State, (RSASYS) discusses the reduction of state aid and how it could impact rural schools. RSASYS is a partner to us, and the many rural school districts throughout the state in advocating about issues that are unique and specific to rural schools.

We continue to review guidance from New York State, the NYS Department of Health, CDC and the New York State Education Department.  As changes need to be made, we are updating our plans.  Please continue to check periodically for updates.
