Warrensburg Central School begins the 2017-2018 school year on Wednesday, September 6, 2017, for all grade levels. Prior to the start of the school year, various events have been scheduled to help students and parents/guardians transition back to school. There are also other important dates and information to note.

Wednesday, August 30, starting at 5:30 p.m.

A picnic for 7th graders and their parents will be held in the high school cafetorium.

Tuesday, September 5, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

A special visitation day is scheduled for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students. Students and parents are invited to visit the classroom, meet the teachers, and enjoy some refreshments.

Wednesday, September 6

Only students in pre-kindergarten and kindergarten will have a shortened school day.

  • The morning pre-kindergarten children will attend from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
  • The afternoon pre-kindergarten class will attend from noon until 2:00 p.m.
  • Kindergarten students will attend school on Wednesday, September 6, from 8:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. for bus students, with parent pick-ups at 11:35 a.m.

Thursday, September 7

Starting this date and forward, pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students will follow their regular schedules.

Wednesday, September 6

The regular full-day schedule for students in 1st grade through 6th grade begins at 8:00 a.m. sharp. Any student arriving after 8:00 a.m. will be marked tardy.  Dismissal begins at 2:45 p.m. for walkers, and 2:50 p.m. for bus students and parent pick-ups.

All parents and students must enter the building through the main front entrance on from James Street. For safety reasons, students should not be dropped off in back of the school. Parents can either drop their child at the front curb or park in the designated front parking lot and walk their child in. It is expected that this front area will be congested on the first day of school, so parents are urged to park on either Elm Street or Library Avenue for easier access.

At dismissal, students being picked up are no longer permitted to exit the building to meet their ride. Parents are required to enter the building and sign out their children, and they may do so beginning at 2:50 p.m. Parents are to wait beforehand in the entrance foyer or outside the main entrance.

Wednesday, September 6.

Parents should turn left in the first aisle of the parking lot closest to Schroon River Road; follow the aisle around to the right to the area in front of the driveway of the high school, where they should drop their student. For students’ safety, students should not cut across the parking lot.

Student schedules 7th through12th grades, will tentatively be mailed the week of August 21. Students should bring their schedules to school on the first day. If changes are necessary, school counselors will be available on Wednesday, September 6 to make adjustments.

All varsity and junior varsity sports teams began practice on Monday, August 14. Students who would still like to try out for a school team should contact Athletic Director, Scott Smith, at 623-2861 ext. 227.

Please contact the Athletic Department for information regarding modified sports.

All athletes need a blue card, health status sheet, and a participation form. For required forms or more information regarding practices, please email Mrs. LaBar at

Again this year a shuttle bus will be available to transport students who want to walk to the elementary school and take the shuttle bus to the high school. The shuttle bus departs from the rear of the elementary school each morning at 7:40 a.m. At 3:05 p.m., a shuttle bus will leave the high school to transport students to the elementary school.

This year breakfast is $1.00 and lunch is $2.35. Reduced price lunch is $.25. If parents believe they qualify for free or reduced-price breakfast and/or lunch, they should complete the application form which is in the Elementary School Parent/Student Handbook; lunch application forms will be given to high school students on the first day of school, along with the following forms: student release, field trip permission, photo publication permission, and other required notifications.

Please contact the Elementary School at 623-9747 or the Jr/Sr High School 623-2861 with any questions.
